Light Music Residential Building Lobby And Lounge
Light Music Residential Building Lobby and Lounge is an innovative architectural interior design project that masterfully integrates digital fabrication methods with traditional artisanal techniques to create an immersive spatial experience in Washington DC's Adams Morgan neighborhood. This Gold A' Design Award-winning project encompasses a 1,350-square-foot space that pays homage to the area's rich musical heritage, from jazz and Go-go to punk rock and electronic music, through its sophisticated design elements. The space features four primary custom components that create a harmonious interplay of light and form: a three-dimensional backlit panel system utilizing hand-gilded aluminum leaf on CNC-milled Dibond panels, extensive relief wall panels spanning up to 14 feet in height, a sculptural Corian screen that defines distinct functional zones, and artistically crafted semi-reflective mirrors reverse-gilded with aluminum leaf. The design successfully transforms a standard residential building lobby into an artistic statement that connects with its locality through sophisticated material applications and thoughtful spatial organization. The project employs advanced LED lighting with programmable dimming systems, premium finishes including concrete microtopping and porcelain mirror tiles, and carefully selected furnishings that complement the overall design aesthetic. This architectural intervention demonstrates exceptional innovation in interior space design through its unique approach to combining cutting-edge fabrication technologies with traditional craftsmanship, creating an environment that transcends typical lobby design while maintaining functional efficiency and cultural relevance.
