Light Game Light
Light Game Light is an innovative lighting fixture design that reimagines a traditional children's paper folding game as a functional illumination solution. Created by Italian designer Luca Matta, this conceptual lighting design masterfully transforms nostalgic play elements into a sophisticated lighting product that embodies simplicity, sustainability, and interactive engagement. The design features a distinctive diffuser composed of press-formed lignin paper, incorporating strategically placed inserts that house LED light sources in its lower section. This modular lighting system allows users to open individual sections, revealing hidden messages within while creating varying patterns of illumination. The design's versatility is demonstrated through its adaptability to multiple lighting configurations, including suspension, table, and floor variants, each maintaining the core concept of interactive illumination. Available in a 100 cm x 100 cm dimension, Light Game Light employs liquid wood technology in its construction, emphasizing ecological consciousness in contemporary lighting design. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a successful fusion of playful interaction, functional lighting, and sustainable design principles. Its innovative approach to combining childhood memories with practical lighting solutions demonstrates the potential for emotional connection in industrial design, while its modular nature and eco-friendly materials align with contemporary sustainable design practices.
