Light Extension Residential House
Light Extension Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2019 in Taiwan, showcasing a sophisticated approach to spatial transformation and visual enhancement. The 110-square-meter dwelling exemplifies contemporary design solutions for common architectural challenges, particularly addressing the visual constraints posed by structural elements. A defining feature of this design is its ingenious treatment of a prominent beam running through the main living space, where the implementation of gradient inclined plane ceiling modeling and strategic use of black mirror surfaces transforms what could have been a visual impediment into an architectural highlight. The design philosophy centers on creating a vacation-like atmosphere within a home environment, breaking away from traditional closed-room configurations to establish semi-open, transparent spaces that significantly enhance the perceived breadth of public areas. The interior demonstrates masterful material integration, incorporating marble, wooden flooring, fair-faced concrete, mirrors, and iron elements to create a cohesive aesthetic experience. Notable design elements include a sophisticated entrance featuring gorgeous tiles contrasting with a gray-tone TV wall, complemented by thoughtfully designed storage solutions and ambient lighting that emphasizes natural textures. The master bedroom showcases exceptional attention to detail, with curved connections between structural elements and styling elements creating a harmonious, private atmosphere. This project, designed by Yi Chun Chung, received recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design and functional optimization.
