Light Chasing Commercial Space
Light Chasing Commercial Space is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the sophisticated integration of light, technology, and commercial functionality in contemporary retail environments. Located in the bustling downtown area of Taipei City's Xinyi District, this 247.935-square-meter commercial space masterfully employs the interplay of yellow and white light to create a transparent aesthetic that enhances product presentation and customer experience. The design, conceived by Yue-Han Li, features a striking combination of modern architectural elements, including a prominent ring light installation on the ceiling that serves as both a functional and aesthetic centerpiece. The space incorporates advanced materials such as piano lacquer, matte paint, titanium plates, and wool-silk textures to create dynamic light refraction effects, while terrazzo flooring adds a contemporary transparency. Notable design elements include a hexagonal honeycomb structure light curtain symbolizing molecular structures, laboratory-style tube glass displays with mirror-based floating illusions, and sophisticated projection systems that create varying light and shadow effects on products and wall screens. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations through its low-dust construction methodology and innovative approach to space planning. The design's sophisticated lighting system creates different atmospheric experiences during day and night, while maintaining optimal conditions for product display and skin testing purposes.
