Light Bathed Residential House
Light Bathed Residential House is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully integrates natural light with contemporary architectural elements, completed in April 2022 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. This 232-square-meter residence, designed by Shih Ming Kan, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to modern living spaces through its thoughtful integration of natural materials and strategic spatial planning. The design philosophy centers on creating a serene atmosphere by incorporating natural wood elements into a modern aesthetic with a humanistic approach, while utilizing marble to establish a sense of determination and stability throughout the space. The interior features a harmonious blend of materials, including titanium-plated metal, thin porcelain tile, Japanese wallcovering, and wooden flooring, all carefully selected to enhance the interplay of light and shadow. The layout strategically positions the living room on the sunny side of the house, allowing natural light to flow uninterrupted through connected spaces including the dining room, piano room, and Buddhist altar. These distinct areas are elegantly separated by architectural elements such as the roof ridge, bookcase wall, and sliding glass doors, creating a balanced open-plan environment that maintains clear spatial definition. Notable design features include a sophisticated entrance that sets a serene tone through stable wood elements, a vista wall incorporating beige and gray marble framed by dark stone, and innovative solutions such as bronze gold titanium-coated metal beams that transform structural necessities into aesthetic advantages. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, exemplifies excellence in residential interior design through its meticulous attention to detail, innovative use of materials, and thoughtful consideration of both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
