Light And Shadow Residential
Light and Shadow Residential is an award-winning architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of American neo-classical style with contemporary spatial design principles. Located in Taichung City, Taiwan, this two-story residential project encompasses 562 square meters of thoughtfully crafted living space, completed in August 2019. The design, conceived by Sung Hsing Lee and Yi Chun Du, masterfully incorporates curved staircases, high-scale entrances, and elegant line board elements, creating a sophisticated aesthetic that seamlessly blends form and function. The project's distinctive approach to natural light integration serves as its cornerstone, with strategically placed windows throughout the structure maximizing illumination and establishing a dynamic interplay between interior and exterior spaces. The first floor accommodates an entrance area, living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, parents' room, guest room, and four bathrooms, while the second floor features two sets of living rooms with bar areas, dressing rooms, sleeping areas, and bathrooms. The design employs an open-space concept defined by multiple arch-doors, creating a progressive, courtyard-like atmosphere that enhances visual penetration and light flow. Materials including wood veneer, tiles, stone finish, and specialized wood flooring were carefully selected to withstand Taiwan's humid climate, with particular attention paid to thermal expansion considerations. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in spatial planning, material application, and the creation of interconnected living environments that respond to both practical needs and aesthetic aspirations.
