Liang Bai Kai Drinking Water

Liang Bai Kai Drinking Water is an innovative packaging design project that revolutionizes the presentation of traditional Chinese cool-down boiled water through a sophisticated glass bottle design that seamlessly integrates cultural heritage with contemporary aesthetics. Created by designer Tiger Pan and his team in Shenzhen, this distinctive packaging solution features a label-less glass bottle adorned with intricate artwork inspired by the thousand-year-old masterpiece Riverside Scene from Tsingming from the Song dynasty. The design's cultural significance lies in its celebration of the uniquely Chinese tradition of drinking cooled boiled water, a practice dating back to 7BC, while its artistic execution employs heat transfer printing technology to recreate the historical artwork across 12 bottles, each representing the traditional earthly branch hours. Standing at 313mm in height with a diameter of 76.5mm, the glass vessel elevates the product's premium positioning through its superior material choice, distinguishing it from conventional plastic packaging in the category. The design's innovative approach to visual storytelling through packaging earned it the Platinum A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, recognizing its exceptional blend of cultural preservation, artistic innovation, and functional design excellence. The project's sophisticated execution required extensive research and development over five months, incorporating various technical challenges including the reinterpretation and enhancement of the historical artwork for modern production methods, resulting in a packaging solution that not only serves its primary function but also acts as a vehicle for cultural appreciation and artistic expression in everyday life.
