Kungfu Cow Milk Package Design
Kungfu Cow Milk Package Design is an innovative packaging solution that seamlessly integrates traditional Chinese martial arts culture with contemporary beverage packaging design, created by designer Xu Shihan in 2018. This distinctive design features a series of illustrated cows performing Tai Chi movements, incorporating three symbolic actions that represent the sounds ha, huo, and hu traditionally associated with martial arts breathing techniques. The design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, employs a sophisticated interactive element through strategically placed windows on the PET plastic bottles, allowing consumers to monitor the remaining milk level through the bottles held by the animated cow characters. The 58x135mm package utilizes heat shrinkable label technology to achieve its dynamic visual effect, while addressing the challenge of standing out in a competitive market through its unique cultural narrative. The design philosophy embodies the principles of being fast, aggressive, and accurate, drawing parallels between the precision of martial arts mastery and the quality of dairy production. This innovative approach particularly targets young Chinese consumers, offering them not only a functional beverage container but also an engaging brand experience that celebrates cultural heritage through modern design sensibilities. The project, developed in Shenzhen and later exhibited in Zhongshan, demonstrates how packaging design can transcend its primary protective function to create meaningful consumer interactions and brand differentiation through thoughtful integration of cultural elements and practical functionality.
