Krivina Side Table

Krivina Side Table

Krivina Side Table is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious blend of minimalist aesthetics and functional storage solutions. Created by Slovak designer Henrich Zrubec, this sophisticated piece draws its name from the designer's hometown, translating to curvature in English, which is reflected in its distinctive slanting shelf feature. The design, which garnered recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022, comprises two size variations - a lower unit measuring 418mm x 386mm x 418mm and a taller variant at 418mm x 386mm x 618mm. Crafted from 18mm thick birch plywood with dowelled joints, the table's construction emphasizes both durability and cost-effective production. The table's most distinctive feature is its partially concealed shelf, which offers a discreet storage solution for personal items while maintaining a clean, uncluttered surface area that adheres to minimalist design principles. This innovative approach to storage particularly suits modern bedroom and living room environments, where the ability to hide electronic devices and charging cables contributes to a more organized aesthetic. The design process, which spanned from November 2020 to February 2022 in Svaty Anton, Slovakia, involved multiple iterations and mock-ups before achieving the final balance between structural integrity and visual appeal. The table's versatility is enhanced through its availability in various color options, making it adaptable to diverse interior settings while maintaining its core functionality as a bedside or side table.
