Komodo Bedside organiser is an innovative wall-mounted furniture piece that reimagines the traditional bedside table through a minimalist design approach. Created by designers Renata Gutierrez and James Rowland in Paraty, Brazil in 2017, this sophisticated storage solution exemplifies the intersection of functionality and contemporary aesthetics. Crafted from premium hardwoods, specifically freijó with muirapiranga details, the organiser features meticulous hand-cut dovetail joints and angled splines that serve both structural and decorative purposes. The design's dimensions of 440mm width, 330mm depth, and 154mm height provide ample space for essential bedside items while maintaining a sleek profile. The upper surface accommodates daily necessities such as a water glass, phone, and lamp, while the strategically placed side-opening shelf below offers convenient storage for books, magazines, or tablets, particularly accessible from a reclined position. The wall-mounted design eliminates traditional elements such as legs, doors, and drawers, focusing instead on essential functionality. Special consideration has been given to wood movement due to environmental factors, with grain orientation and joinery techniques carefully engineered to maintain structural integrity. The design, which received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2018, is produced in mirror-image pairs, making it suitable for symmetrical bedroom arrangements. The mounting system employs concealed keyhole slots, ensuring both secure installation and aesthetic cleanliness while accommodating natural wood movement.
