Koc Yasam Dormitory

Koc Yasam Dormitory

Koc Yasam Dormitory is an innovative student accommodation facility spanning 13,000 square meters, designed to enhance the quality of life and academic productivity of female students in Ankara, Turkey. Conceptualized and brought to life in 2017 by interior designer Ismail Murat Saltipinar, this comprehensive living space represents a thoughtful integration of modern amenities and student-centric design philosophy. The facility distinguishes itself through its holistic approach to student living, incorporating a diverse range of spaces including individual and shared rooms accommodating one to four persons, alongside extensive communal areas. The design emphasizes the balance between academic pursuits and personal development, featuring dedicated study rooms, a fitness centre, health services, and various recreational spaces such as a mini theatre, music room, and gaming areas. The interior design scheme carefully considers the contrasts in student life, utilizing a combination of natural and artificial materials including wood, stainless metal, colorful glass, and marble, all selected for their durability and health-conscious properties. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional space optimization and functional layout design, incorporating sustainable practices and ergonomic considerations throughout its various facilities, including a hobby kitchen, barbecue yard, market, café, and specialized service areas such as laundry facilities and a help desk, all designed to create a supportive and enriching living environment for its residents.
