Kandinsky Sidetable is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the intersection of sustainable luxury and contemporary aesthetics, created by Portuguese designer Andre Teoman. Drawing inspiration from the artistic principles of Wassily Kandinsky, the design features exotic marble tops sourced from architectural project remnants, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable practices while maintaining high-end appeal. The table's distinctive characteristic lies in its floating appearance, achieved through two structural variations: a thin metal structure with gold or nickel finish, or an acrylic sheet combined with a thick metal foot. Measuring 480 mm x 480 mm x 600 mm, the table showcases meticulous craftsmanship through CNC-machined marble tops that perfectly integrate with the metal structures. The production process employs laser-cutting technology for acrylic components and inox metal with specialized coating treatments. This versatile piece, developed between January and September 2017, offers customization options in terms of tops, shapes, and finishes, making it adaptable to various interior settings. The design successfully addresses the challenge of repurposing premium materials while maintaining their emotional and aesthetic qualities, embodying a futuristic sensibility that aligns with contemporary design trends and environmental consciousness.
