Jumper Cables

Jumper cables, also known as booster cables, are a type of electrical cables used to jump-start a vehicle with a dead battery. They consist of two insulated cables with alligator clips at each end. The clips are typically color-coded, with red for positive and black for negative. Jumper cables are an essential tool for any driver, as dead batteries can occur unexpectedly and leave a vehicle stranded. To use jumper cables, the functioning vehicle is first parked next to the vehicle with the dead battery. The red clip is then attached to the positive terminal of the dead battery, followed by the red clip on the functioning battery. The black clip is then attached to the negative terminal of the functioning battery, and the final black clip is attached to an unpainted metal surface on the dead vehicle's engine block. The functioning vehicle is then started, and the dead vehicle should start shortly after. While jumper cables are a useful tool, they should be used with caution. It is important to ensure that the cables are not touching any moving parts of the engine, and that they are not crossed or touching each other. Additionally, it is important to follow the correct order of attaching the clips to avoid damaging the electrical system of either vehicle.
