JP House Residential Flat

JP House Residential Flat

JP House Residential Flat is an innovative residential interior design project located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully combines minimalist aesthetics with industrial loft styling. Completed in January 2019, this 78-square-meter interior space with an additional 10.1-square-meter balcony was conceived by designer Chengwen Tang, who drew inspiration from the client's extensive book collection to create a unique concept centered on the deconstruction of books and Chinese text elements. The design philosophy manifests through the articulation of ink stroke aesthetics, employing black dots, lines, and surfaces throughout the minimalist space to express key aesthetic values of virtual and real, loose and intense. The layout encompasses two bedrooms, a living room, dining room, two bathrooms, and a walk-in closet, featuring a revolutionary approach to conventional spatial arrangements. Notable design elements include the deliberate exposure of building infrastructure, such as sprinkler piping, which preserves the original spatial height while contributing to an elegant industrial aesthetic. The material palette comprises Lotos plaster, Italian pastellone flooring (seamless lime and cement finish), KD painted timber veneer board, frosted glass, and metal elements. A distinctive triangular configuration integrates the sofa, end-table, and work desk, creating a fluid, uncluttered environment enhanced by innovative solutions such as a revolving TV post and simplified rack systems replacing traditional cabinet volumes. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, exemplifies excellence in spatial optimization, material selection, and functional innovation while maintaining a strong connection to the client's lifestyle preferences and cultural values.
