Jon Buller

Jon Buller was a prominent American artist who made significant contributions to the world of abstract expressionism, as well as landscape and figurative painting. Born in 1922 in New York, Buller initially pursued a career in architecture before enrolling at the Art Students League of New York. He then went on to study at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts, where he was heavily influenced by the teachings of the German painter and art teacher. Throughout his career, Buller's work was characterized by its bold use of color, expressive brushstrokes, and a sense of movement and energy. His paintings often featured abstracted forms and shapes, but also incorporated recognizable elements from the natural world, such as trees, mountains, and bodies of water. In addition to his abstract work, Buller also painted landscapes and figurative works, which demonstrated his versatility as an artist. Buller's work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the National Gallery of Art. He was also the recipient of several awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and two nominations for the Nobel Prize in the Arts. Despite his success as an artist, Buller remained humble and dedicated to his craft throughout his life. He continued to paint and teach until his death in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of innovative and influential work that continues to inspire artists today.
