John Wayne Gacy
John Wayne Gacy was an American serial killer and rapist who gained notoriety for the murders of at least 33 young men and boys in the 1970s. Gacy, also known as the Killer Clown, would lure his victims to his home under the guise of offering them work or money, before torturing and murdering them. He buried the bodies in the crawl space of his home, leading to his eventual capture and conviction in 1980. Gacy's crimes shocked the nation and led to increased scrutiny of law enforcement practices in missing persons cases. His trial was widely covered by the media and his execution by lethal injection in 1994 was heavily publicized. Gacy's case remains one of the most infamous in American history and has been the subject of numerous books, films, and documentaries. Despite his heinous crimes, Gacy was also known for his involvement in local politics and community events. He was a successful businessman and was active in the Democratic Party, even meeting with then-First Lady Rosalynn Carter. However, his public persona was a stark contrast to the depravity he carried out in private.
