Jinghualou Restaurant

Jinghualou Restaurant is a distinguished culinary establishment located on the central axis of Beijing, China, representing a masterful fusion of imperial Chinese heritage and Western cultural influences. Originally managed by heirs of the imperial kitchen, this 1,200-square-meter restaurant space, designed by Tong Xu, exemplifies sophisticated interior architecture that pays homage to the late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China periods. The design narrative unfolds through a series of thoughtfully crafted spaces, beginning with striking blue walls and green tiles visible through glass screens, reminiscent of traditional Qianmen establishments. The interior features a dramatic greeting hall adorned with a golden antique screen depicting an Ink Colored Pine Forest, complemented by crystal lighting fixtures that create an atmosphere of refined elegance. A significant design element includes the ceremonial Taihu Lake Stone placement in the central area, surrounded by carefully positioned dining spaces that ensure each guest enjoys equal prominence. The restaurant's architectural enhancement includes the addition of independent stairs and elevators to overcome accessibility challenges, while the interior design successfully integrates elements from both Eastern and Western design traditions. This harmonious blend of cultural aesthetics earned the project a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its innovative approach to spatial design and cultural preservation. The establishment's design, completed in October 2022, creates an immersive dining environment that captures the essence of aristocratic lifestyle while maintaining functional modernity, featuring elements such as two-crane decorative motifs, bonsai arrangements, and thoughtfully implemented lighting gradations.
