Jardin D'Hiver Working Space
Jardin d'Hiver Working Space is a meticulously renovated four-story townhouse that exemplifies innovative architectural transformation through thoughtful spatial reorganization and sustainable design principles. Located in Taichung City, Taiwan, this distinguished project, completed in 2015, represents a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic refinement, where the original central staircase was strategically relocated to the building's posterior, creating dramatic trapezoid-shaped open spaces on the third and top floors. This architectural intervention facilitates natural light penetration and optimal air circulation throughout the structure, while establishing a profound connection with the rear garden's sweet gum tree, which serves as a living timekeeper of seasonal changes. The design philosophy emphasizes simplicity and environmental consciousness, utilizing recyclable materials such as steel and wood, complemented by large aluminum windows that maximize natural illumination and energy efficiency. The interior's sophisticated color palette, featuring subtle pinks and greens against warm neutrals, draws inspiration from summer evening atmospheres, creating a tranquil working environment amid urban dynamics. Notable features include a 10-meter-high bookshelf, custom-crafted details, and a substantial aged wood table that serves as a material display platform under natural light. The project, spanning 396 cm in width, 1800 cm in depth, and 310 cm in height, overcame significant construction challenges during its realization and was honored with the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its exceptional contribution to contemporary workplace design.
