Ion Gauge Tubes
Ion gauge tubes are vacuum gauges that are used to measure the pressure of gases in a vacuum system. They work by measuring the ionization of gas molecules that are present in the vacuum. When gas molecules are ionized, they produce positively charged ions that are attracted to a negatively charged electrode in the gauge. The current produced by these ions is then measured and used to determine the pressure of the gas. Ion gauge tubes are commonly used in vacuum systems where high levels of accuracy are required, such as in semiconductor manufacturing or in research laboratories. They are preferred over other types of vacuum gauges because they are not affected by magnetic fields and can provide accurate readings even at very low pressures. There are several types of ion gauge tubes, including hot cathode ionization gauges and cold cathode ionization gauges. Hot cathode ionization gauges use a heated filament to ionize gas molecules, while cold cathode ionization gauges use a high voltage discharge to ionize the gas. Both types of gauges are highly sensitive and can provide accurate pressure readings in the range of 10^-10 to 10^-3 torr. In order to maintain the accuracy of ion gauge tubes, they must be calibrated regularly and kept clean. Contamination of the gauge can cause inaccurate readings and reduce the lifespan of the gauge. Ion gauge tubes are also sensitive to temperature changes, so they must be kept at a constant temperature to ensure accurate readings.
