In's Café Coffee Shop
In's Café Coffee shop is an award-winning French vintage-inspired coffee establishment that exemplifies the successful transformation of a residential garage into an elegant dining space, situated near the hillsides of Taichung city, Taiwan. This 75.5-square-meter establishment, designed by Hsin Ting Weng and Hung Jiun Huang, masterfully combines classic French architectural elements with contemporary design sensibilities. The exterior features a distinctive teal façade adorned with sophisticated moulding posts, incorporating recessed and fluted details that pay homage to traditional French brasserie aesthetics. The design's innovative approach is particularly evident in its dual-space concept, featuring a greenhouse courtyard that creates a seamless connection with nature through colonial window grids offering panoramic views, and an indoor area characterized by an antique brown solid wood kitchen complemented by distressed tin tiles. The interior space demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material selection and spatial organization, with herringbone flooring in vintage assorted shades establishing the foundation for the design's nostalgic atmosphere. The establishment's unique architectural elements include a green wall attached to pine fence panels, which enhances the natural ambiance of the greenhouse section while providing a refreshing botanical experience for patrons. This remarkable transformation project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design category, successfully overcomes various technical challenges, including weather-related construction delays, to create a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor spaces that cater to different dining preferences while maintaining a consistent design narrative throughout the venue.
