Inner Tubes For Bicycle Tyres
Inner tubes for bicycle tires are inflatable rubber tubes that fit inside the tire casing and hold the air pressure that supports the weight of the rider and the bike. They are typically made of butyl rubber, a synthetic rubber that is highly impermeable to air and resistant to punctures. Inner tubes come in a range of sizes and valve types to fit different tire sizes and rim designs. They are an essential component of most bicycle tires, as they provide the necessary air pressure to maintain the tire's shape and allow it to roll smoothly over the ground. To install an inner tube, the tire must first be removed from the rim, and the old tube must be removed from inside the tire casing. The new tube is then inserted into the tire casing and carefully aligned with the valve stem hole. The tire is then reinstalled onto the rim and inflated to the recommended pressure, which is typically printed on the sidewall of the tire. While inner tubes are generally reliable and long-lasting, they can be subject to punctures and leaks over time. Common causes of punctures include sharp objects on the road or trail, worn or damaged tire casings, and improper installation or inflation. To prevent punctures, riders can use puncture-resistant tires or add sealant to the inner tube to seal small punctures as they occur.
