Indoor Outdoor Bathroom Bathroom

Indoor Outdoor Bathroom Bathroom

Indoor Outdoor Bathroom Bathroom is an innovative architectural design project that explores the conceptual boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, creating a unique bathroom environment that metaphorically brings the outdoors inside. This Silver A' Design Award-winning design, created by Bilska de Beaupuy, transforms a 6-square-meter en-suite bathroom into a sensory-rich environment that embodies the principles of Nutritious Architecture. The centerpiece of the design is a sophisticated three-dimensional trellis crafted from gold-plated jewelry chains, which supports air-filtering climbing plants, creating a living, evolving architectural element. The design draws inspiration from natural formations such as caves and waterfalls, incorporating these elements through fluid forms and organic shapes. The bathroom's materiality demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability and wellness, utilizing Cradle to Cradle principles with non-toxic building materials, including Tadelakt (a lime-based waterproof plaster), recycled glass for the shower screen, and low VOC paints. The space features cave-like walls and reflective surfaces that respond dynamically to changing light conditions throughout the day, creating an ever-evolving atmospheric experience. This transformative design approach extends beyond mere aesthetics, incorporating practical environmental considerations such as LED lighting and water-saving fixtures, while the integration of air-filtering plants contributes to improved air quality and overall well-being. The project exemplifies how thoughtful interior design can create spaces that provide both physical and spiritual nourishment, challenging traditional notions of indoor-outdoor boundaries while maintaining functionality and environmental responsibility.
