Indigenous Design
Indigenous Design is a way of making things that uses skills and ideas passed down through generations in local communities. These designs use materials found in the area and focus on solving everyday needs using methods that have worked for a long time. Many Indigenous designs use patterns or shapes that have special meanings, and these can show stories or important events. Traditional knowledge in Indigenous Design often helps create objects and spaces that work well with the local climate, like houses that stay cool in hot places or tools that fit the way people live. Some Indigenous communities use special weaving or carving methods that are unique to their culture, and these methods are often taught by elders to younger people in the community.
