Idun Red Heart Apple Juice
Idun Red Heart Apple Juice is an innovative packaging design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Norse mythology, artistic craftsmanship, and functional design excellence. The design draws inspiration from the Norse goddess Idun, the keeper of golden apples symbolizing eternal youth, featuring an artistically rendered illustration that pays homage to the style of renowned artist John Bauer while incorporating elements of apple cultivation environments. The sophisticated packaging design employs several notable technical innovations, including strategically placed die-cut windows on the bottle label that reveal the naturally red juice beneath, creating an interactive visual element that emphasizes the product's unique characteristic of being derived from red-flesh apples originating from Switzerland. The 68mm x 108mm label showcases intricate copperplate illustration work complemented by premium finishing techniques, including gold stamping applied to three apple motifs, symbolizing the mythological golden apples of Idun. This premium non-from-concentrate (NFC) juice product stands out for its natural red coloration derived from anthocyanin-rich red-heart apples, containing no artificial additives. The design, completed in Suzhou in 2021, successfully overcomes the technical challenges of implementing complex illustration work and specialized printing processes within a confined label space, while effectively communicating the product's premium positioning and natural origins. The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, recognizing its excellence in combining aesthetic appeal with functional design elements.
