I Am Nesia Exhibition Series
I am Nesia Exhibition Series is a profound photographic exploration that garnered the Silver A' Design Award in Photography and Photo Manipulation Design, representing a compelling artistic interpretation of humanity's experience during the global pandemic lockdown. This innovative series combines unconventional photography techniques with digital manipulation to create ethereal, watercolor-like landscapes populated by mysterious dark figures, serving as a metaphorical representation of collective fear and resilience. The artistic process involves deliberately defocusing landscape photographs to transform them into abstract color compositions, achieved by manipulating camera settings and pushing focusing mechanisms to their limits. Each piece in the series is meticulously crafted through a combination of in-camera techniques and post-production manipulation, resulting in large-format light box installations measuring 1200mm x 2000mm. The series distinguishes itself through its unique approach to documenting societal trauma, utilizing color theory and psychological elements to evoke emotional responses from viewers. The intentional use of expansive sky portions in the compositions suggests themes of uncertainty and infinite possibility, while the recurring dark figure serves as a dual symbol of anxiety and human resilience. The light box presentation format adds an additional dimension of dynamism to the works, enhancing their emotional impact through illumination. This series, created during the height of the 2020 lockdown, stands as both a historical document and an artistic celebration of human adaptability, transforming the seemingly ominous subject matter into aesthetically pleasing compositions that invite viewers to confront and process their own experiences of isolation and fear.
