Hybrid Beauty Womenswear Collection is an innovative fashion design project that explores the duality between cuteness and darkness through contemporary couture techniques. This groundbreaking collection, created by designer Moon Chang, represents a profound exploration of survival mechanisms through fashion, reinterpreting traditional elements such as ribbons, ruffles, and flowers through the lens of millinery and haute couture craftsmanship. The collection consists of eight distinctive womenswear looks that masterfully blend Victorian silhouettes with modern aesthetics, creating a unique dialogue between beauty and ugliness. At its core, the collection employs sophisticated production techniques, including traditional couture handmade flowers crafted using century-old brass metal molds, intricate digital heat transfer prints on various luxurious fabrics, and meticulous hand embroidery with beading. The designs feature innovative flower motifs molded from velvet using heated metal, which are transformed into two-dimensional prints on silk and sequins, enhanced with stuffing, embroidery, and beading to create a contemporary form of camouflage. Each garment incorporates 4-5 yards of lightweight fabrics such as faille and silk organza, creating an immersive wearing experience that metaphorically represents psychological themes. The collection, which earned the prestigious Gold A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in sustainable fashion design while maintaining a strong focus on timeless appeal and artistic expression.
