Hung Wan Restaurant

Hung Wan Restaurant

Hung Wan Restaurant is an award-winning dining establishment that exemplifies innovative interior design through its thoughtful renovation and modernization project completed in 2014. The 6000-square-foot restaurant space showcases a sophisticated design approach that seamlessly integrates functionality with aesthetic appeal, featuring distinctive elements such as dancing shapes with perforated dots on bronze-colored stainless steel backdrops and custom-designed pinwheel pendant lamps that cast warm orange illumination throughout the space. The interior design, conceived by Chi Ling Leung, demonstrates particular attention to spatial efficiency through the strategic relocation of the service bar to the center of the restaurant and the maximization of popular booth seating arrangements, catering to contemporary Chinese dining preferences. The design philosophy incorporates a harmonious blend of materials, including specially laminated grey glass dividers and orange-red paint accents, creating an atmosphere that appeals to a younger demographic while maintaining the restaurant's established reputation. The renovation project, which was executed in three phases, went beyond mere aesthetic improvements to include a comprehensive reorganization of the kitchen and back-of-house areas, significantly enhancing operational efficiency. This thoughtful redesign earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and innovative approach to contemporary restaurant design.
