Hulumao Diamond Cat Toy
Hulumao Diamond Cat Toy is an innovative, eco-friendly pet furniture design that combines functionality with geometric aesthetics, created by designers Shih-Chang Hsiao and Yu-Luen Huang. This multifunctional cat bed, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Pet Care, Toys, Supplies and Products for Animals Design category, represents a sophisticated approach to pet furniture design through its distinctive diamond-shaped structure crafted from durable corrugated cardboard. The design features a bowl-shaped nest configuration measuring 560mm in width and depth, with a height of 175mm, providing a secure and comfortable space for felines while incorporating a central scratching area for natural paw exercises. The product's conception emerged from careful observation of feline behavior, particularly their affinity for cardboard boxes, and addresses both instinctual needs for protection and comfort through its cave-like design. The structural innovation lies in its transformation from a two-dimensional flat-packed form to a robust three-dimensional structure, achieved through advanced 3D software modeling and precise geometric engineering. This transformation not only facilitates efficient shipping and storage but also creates an engaging assembly experience for pet owners. The design's emphasis on sustainable materials and structural integrity demonstrates a harmonious balance between environmental consciousness and functional durability, while its aesthetic appeal makes it a noteworthy addition to contemporary living spaces. The product's development, completed between October 2016 and January 2017, showcases innovative solutions to common challenges in pet furniture design, particularly in achieving stability and durability through double-layered construction while maintaining an appealing visual presence.
