Hubertus Hotel is an architecturally innovative hospitality establishment located in Valdaora, Italy, at the foot of the Kronplatz ski and hiking area in the Puster Valley, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,350 meters. This remarkable architectural achievement, designed by Elisabeth Mitterer, Lukas Rungger, and Andreas Profanter, represents a harmonious fusion of traditional alpine hospitality and contemporary design innovation, particularly notable for its striking 25-meter cantilevering pool that creates a dramatic visual connection between the original structure and its modern expansion. The hotel underwent a comprehensive renovation and enhancement project that introduced 16 new suites, sophisticated culinary facilities including restaurants and traditional 'Stuben', a welcoming entrance area comprising a lobby, reception, and wine cellar, as well as state-of-the-art fitness and relaxation spaces with panoramic terraces. The most distinctive architectural feature, the suspended pool, extends 17 meters into space and hovers 12 meters above ground, creating an illusion of weightlessness through its glass front and bottom window, offering swimmers an unprecedented experience of floating between heaven and earth. The exterior design employs debarked larch trunks as multifunctional facade elements, establishing visual continuity between the existing and new structures, while perforated, powder-coated metal balustrades in earth tones replace traditional wooden elements, ensuring both privacy and unobstructed views. This exceptional architectural project, completed between October 2015 and May 2016, earned the Platinum A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to innovative hospitality design and guest experience enhancement.
