House With Stillness Interior Design

House With Stillness Interior Design

House With Stillness Interior Design is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully demonstrates the principle of visual balance through the interplay of light and dark materials. The 165.5-square-meter space, designed by Rachelle Chen, exemplifies a sophisticated approach to contemporary living through its thoughtful spatial organization and material selection. The design's most distinctive feature lies in its strategic contrast between the dark-materialed entry area and the bright, airy living spaces, creating a compelling spatial metaphor that evokes both grace and vitality. The public areas flow seamlessly into one another, defined by furniture placement rather than rigid partitions, while wooden elements on the main TV wall and cabinetry provide visual harmony throughout. The project showcases innovative space planning through its L-shaped wooden cabinets that serve as subtle dividers between the entry and dining areas, with specialized compartments for displaying wine collections and artifacts. The kitchen design incorporates a white marble island that creates a visual dialogue with the dining table, both contrasting beautifully against wooden elements. This project, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a response to urban densification challenges, offering a sophisticated solution that harmonizes human needs with natural elements. The design philosophy emphasizes the creation of hierarchy in space through simple materials, strict proportional division, and concise technical methods, resulting in an interior that balances functionality with aesthetic refinement.
