House Of Light Residence

House Of Light Residence

House of Light Residence is an exemplary architectural masterpiece located in Yilan, Taiwan, that harmoniously integrates contemporary design elements with natural surroundings. Completed in December 2017, this 1,100-square-meter luxury villa, designed by Cheng-Yu Yang, showcases an innovative approach to residential architecture through its sophisticated use of materials and thoughtful spatial composition. The residence is distinguished by its extensive use of rosewood elements, strategically incorporated to address the region's moist and rainy climate, featuring in the front gate grilles, exterior and interior doors, large tables, and a striking spiral staircase. The building's modern aesthetic is achieved through a careful balance of fair-faced concrete and glass, creating a lustrous exterior presence. Interior spaces are characterized by a consistent gray palette that establishes a magnificent atmosphere, with equally spaced pillars elegantly dividing the hall into living and dining areas. A particularly notable feature is the grand spiral staircase with black handrails, enhanced by concentrically installed illumination underneath, which serves as both a functional element and an artistic centerpiece. The design demonstrates exceptional attention to practical considerations, incorporating wood-grain brick flooring for elegant aesthetics and easy maintenance, while glass curtains and screens throughout the structure create a sophisticated interplay between privacy and openness to the outdoor environment. The project, which was awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2018, exemplifies excellence in spatial design through its masterful integration of materials, lighting, and architectural elements.
