House Of Art Residence

House of Art Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of art and living spaces, located adjacent to the Presidential Building in Taipei, Taiwan. The design, conceived by I-Ju Chan and Hsuan-Yi Chen, transforms a contemporary urban dwelling into a sophisticated art-centric living environment that masterfully balances the display of valuable artworks with functional living spaces. The residence features a thoughtfully planned spatial arrangement across two floors, with the ground level dedicated to public entertaining spaces including a living room, dining area, tea ceremony space, and piano room. A distinctive steel artwork at the entrance creates an artistic interpretation of a peach blossom forest corridor, paying homage to the client's surname while establishing a transitional space between the urban exterior and the serene interior. The design incorporates premium materials such as Saint Laurent Black Gold marble and wooden grille walls, with careful attention to lighting and spatial flow. Notable features include an elevated U-shaped couch, a traditional tea ceremony area with tatami flooring, and strategically placed art display areas with specialized lighting and mounting solutions. The second floor maintains privacy through lightweight wooden flooring and incorporates transparent glass handrails in its art gallery spaces, while hidden doors are adorned with carefully selected paintings that serve as room identifiers. The project, completed in 2019, earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to integrating art collection display with daily living requirements.
