Hina Japanese Bar is an innovative interior design project located in Beijing that exemplifies the sophisticated fusion of Japanese aesthetics with modern architectural solutions. Situated on the top floor of a 14-story apartment building adjacent to the East 3rd Ring Road, this 120-square-meter establishment encompasses a whisky bar and a private karaoke room, distinguished by its meticulous attention to spatial organization and material selection. The design, conceived by Japanese architect Yuichiro Imafuku, employs a distinctive system of 30mm thick wooden gridded frames that serve both aesthetic and functional purposes, addressing the spatial constraints of the existing structure while creating an intimate atmosphere. The interior's sophisticated material palette includes sliced veneer, mirrored stainless steel, and blue-gray painted surfaces, which work in concert to produce a multilayered atmospheric effect. The bar counter features white artificial marble, wood flooring, and grey granite stones, while the soundproofed karaoke room is seamlessly integrated into the overall design language through the continuation of the wooden grid motif. This thoughtfully executed project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional space optimization within challenging architectural constraints, including a 2450mm floor-to-slab height and structural walls that divide the space. The design particularly caters to Japanese expatriates in Beijing, offering a refined drinking establishment that combines traditional Japanese bar culture with contemporary design sensibilities, completed in January 2017 after a three-month development period.
