Hangzhou Xixi Green Office Complex Xixi Green Office Complex

Hangzhou Xixi Green Office Complex Xixi Green Office Complex is an innovative architectural masterpiece located adjacent to the Xixi National Wetland Park in Hangzhou, China, exemplifying a harmonious blend of modern urban development and traditional wetland cultural preservation. Completed in December 2016, this 246,046-square-meter complex comprises four distinctive L-shaped slab buildings strategically positioned to maximize landscape integration and create a compelling urban landmark. The design, conceived by architects Zhang Wei, Meng Fanhao, and Xie Lei, employs a sophisticated architectural approach that responds to the dual challenges of urban density and environmental sensitivity. The complex's most notable feature is its innovative structural composition, utilizing large-span vierendeel steel trusses to create dramatic openings that invite public engagement while maintaining visual lightness. The internal spatial organization draws inspiration from traditional wetland settlement patterns, incorporating elements of Chinese courtyard design principles to create a contemporary interpretation of local architectural heritage. The building's exterior is characterized by horizontal sun-shading louvers that not only serve a practical purpose but also help articulate the complex's three-dimensional form. This architectural achievement, which garnered the Platinum A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional merit in its approach to sustainable urban development, combining commercial functionality with cultural preservation. The project's success lies in its ability to balance multiple objectives: creating a high-quality urban space, establishing a distinctive architectural presence, and maintaining sensitivity to the wetland's cultural heritage, all while accommodating modern office and business functions within its 148,602 square meters of ground area.
