Guiyang New Community Park Residential Exhibition Area

Guiyang New Community Park Residential Exhibition Area is an innovative landscape architecture project completed in 2020, representing a harmonious integration of natural karst topography with contemporary urban recreational needs in Guiyang, China. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project encompasses 130,000 square meters of thoughtfully designed space that exemplifies sustainable landscape development through minimal intervention and preservation of existing natural elements. The design masterfully addresses complex site challenges, including a 45-meter elevation difference and proximity to the Laoma River with its seasonal flooding patterns, through the implementation of traditional construction methods and resilient design strategies. The project's distinctive approach incorporates restored farming terraces and low dry walls constructed from local limestone, creating a robust infrastructure that both honors the site's cultural heritage and provides practical solutions for soil stability and flood management. The design philosophy emphasizes the preservation of existing vegetation and natural habitats while introducing carefully planned public spaces that accommodate diverse recreational activities. Through its innovative integration of traditional construction techniques with contemporary design principles, the exhibition area successfully creates a dynamic community space that celebrates the unique karst geography of the region while providing essential leisure facilities for public use. The project stands as a remarkable example of sustainable landscape architecture that effectively balances ecological preservation with modern urban requirements, featuring an amphitheater, integrated pathway systems, and thoughtfully designed spaces that cater to visitors of all ages while maintaining the site's natural character and supporting local biodiversity.
