Grayish Green Interior Design
Grayish Green Interior Design is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of nature-inspired elements within a contemporary living space. This 125-square-meter renovation project, designed by Yi-Lun Hsu, transforms a previously constrained 13-year-old residence into an open, light-filled environment through thoughtful spatial reorganization and a sophisticated color palette. The design's primary intervention involves the removal of partition walls between the kitchen and study room, introducing a central island kitchen that enhances spatial flow and social interaction. The project's distinctive aesthetic is characterized by its carefully curated color scheme, combining light wood tones with grayish-green accents, manifested in elements such as the blue-green sofa and gray-green closets. Notable design features include semi-open glass partitions that maximize natural light penetration, Venetian plaster finishes that reflect the owner's unpretentious character, and strategic architectural solutions to address structural challenges posed by existing beams and columns. The design successfully responds to the client's lifestyle preferences, incorporating dedicated spaces for independent work while maintaining visual connectivity throughout. This project, which was completed in December 2022 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and innovative approach to residential design. The project's success lies in its ability to create a sophisticated living environment that balances functionality with aesthetic appeal, while effectively addressing the challenges of limited space and insufficient natural lighting through intelligent design solutions.
