Grand Canal Sales Office
Grand Canal Sales Office is an exemplary architectural and interior design project located in Hangzhou, China, that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese landscape culture with contemporary design sensibilities. Completed in April 2019, this 1,546-square-meter space serves as a sophisticated commercial environment that pays homage to the historic Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The design philosophy interprets three fundamental realms of canal culture: standing, observing, and gaining water, manifested through innovative spatial arrangements and material selections. The project's distinctive features include whitewashed brick exteriors, bluestone alleys, and gold-dominated interior spaces that incorporate traditional oriental design elements through decorative components and landscape paintings. The circulation system within the space creates an intuitive flow that metaphorically represents the canal system, while natural stone flooring with wave-shaped patterns provides subtle visual continuity. The design successfully addresses the complex challenge of harmonizing human-nature relationships through the integration of ancient landscape painting elements and the creation of multilayered spatial experiences. The project's excellence in interior space design was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to cultural preservation and modern functionality. Located in Chongxian New City, Yuhang District, the sales office stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural design that reflects regional identity while serving contemporary commercial purposes.
