Good Morning Original Calendar 2011 - Safari Calendar
good morning original calendar 2011 - Safari Calendar is an innovative paper-craft calendar design that seamlessly combines functionality with interactive artistry, created by Art Director Katsumi Tamura and Designer Kohei Miyasaka. This sophisticated design piece, measuring 200mm x 170mm per sheet, consists of six meticulously crafted sheets featuring wildlife-themed paper sculptures with dual monthly calendars positioned on their sides. The calendar's distinctive characteristic lies in its interactive assembly process, where users press out pre-marked components, fold along designated creases, and secure joints to create three-dimensional animal figures, transforming a conventional calendar into an engaging desk sculpture. Launched in July 2010 for the year 2011, this design exemplifies the intersection of practical time-keeping and artistic expression through its innovative paper engineering. The calendar's sophisticated construction methodology allows users to participate in the creative process, fostering a deeper connection with both the object and the passage of time it represents. The design earned recognition through the prestigious A' Design Award, receiving a Gold award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to visual communication design. The project demonstrates remarkable technical excellence in paper engineering, combining aesthetic appeal with functional design principles, while its wildlife theme creates an engaging narrative that transforms the mundane act of tracking dates into an artistic experience that celebrates the natural world.
