Golden Black Rhyme Residence

Golden Black Rhyme Residence

Golden Black Rhyme Residence is an exemplary residential interior design project completed in 2019 in Taichung City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates oriental aesthetics with contemporary spatial design principles. The 212-square-meter, four-story residence demonstrates sophisticated design innovation through its thoughtful interpretation of an abstract painting, which serves as the primary inspiration for the interior's color scheme and aesthetic direction. The design, created by Pei Chun Chiu, skillfully employs a harmonious combination of golden and black tones throughout the space, creating a visual rhythm that pays homage to traditional Oriental artistry while maintaining modern functionality. The residence features a strategically planned vertical layout that accommodates three generations of family members, with the first floor dedicated to communal living spaces including an open-concept kitchen and living room, the second floor housing the master bedroom with accompanying amenities, the third floor containing two bedrooms, and the fourth floor accommodating grandparents' quarters and a shrine. Notable technical achievements include the innovative treatment of a challenging structural pillar and the precise execution of a splint-joint television wall feature. The design incorporates premium materials including melamine board, quartz lamina, glass, wood, and steel, with particular attention paid to the custom system cabinetry. A distinctive iron hanger element serves both functional and aesthetic purposes, creating a visual screen near the elevator while extending to integrate with the kitchen ceiling's lighting and ventilation systems. This project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in residential design through its successful balance of aesthetic sophistication, functional efficiency, and cultural sensitivity.
