Glowing Light Installation
Glowing Light Installation is an innovative architectural lighting system that transforms functional industrial structures into dynamic visual landmarks through the integration of RGB LED technology. Designed by German designer Nils-R. Schultze, this sophisticated installation merges ecological energy monitoring with artistic expression, featuring illuminated rings wrapped around water reservoirs at a power plant facility. The installation, measuring 25 meters in height and 40 meters in width, encompasses five water tanks and serves dual purposes: primarily displaying energy levels through color variations corresponding to the thermal state of the reservoirs, and secondarily functioning as an artistic canvas for special events. The system employs DMX-technology and specialized computer software to control individual RGB LED rings, enabling both practical energy visualization and creative light performances. This installation represents a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional neon advertising, offering enhanced functionality through color-changing capabilities and dimming features while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. The design, which won the Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, exemplifies the successful integration of sustainable energy monitoring with public art, creating a visual interface between industrial infrastructure and public space. Its innovative approach to displaying technical data through artistic expression serves as both an educational tool and a landmark, marking the entrance to a science park while raising awareness about ecological energy consumption through its dynamic visual communications system.
