Global Innovation Index
The Global Innovation Index (GII) is a comprehensive tool that measures and evaluates the innovation capabilities and outcomes of countries around the world. It provides a framework for assessing the innovation environment of countries based on a set of indicators that are grouped into seven categories. These categories include the enabling environment, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs, and creative outputs. The GII is used to identify areas of strength and weakness in countries' innovation systems and to benchmark their performance against other countries. It is also used to inform policy makers and stakeholders about the trends and factors that contribute to successful innovation-driven growth. The GII is an important tool for promoting innovation and creating a more competitive environment for designers and innovators to work in. The GII is based on a set of 82 indicators that are carefully selected to capture the multidimensional aspects of innovation. These indicators include both input and output measures, such as research and development expenditure, patent applications, and high-tech exports. The GII also considers the quality of innovation, as measured by indicators such as the number of scientific publications and the quality of universities. The GII is produced by a team of experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Cornell University, and INSEAD. The team uses a rigorous methodology to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, including international organizations, national statistical offices, and surveys of innovation experts. In summary, the Global Innovation Index is a valuable tool for assessing and benchmarking the innovation capabilities and outcomes of countries around the world. It provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the factors that contribute to successful innovation-driven growth, and it is used by policy makers and stakeholders to inform decision-making and promote innovation.

Global Innovation Index
The Global Innovation Index (GII) is an annual ranking of countries based on their ability to foster innovation and measure the impact it has on their economies. The index is composed of 82 indicators, including economic performance, human capital, research and development expenditure, knowledge-based capital, and technology infrastructure. Furthermore, it evaluates the ability of countries to produce, use, and commercialize innovative products and services. The index assesses the innovation environment of countries by focusing on a variety of metrics, such as education, research, development, and the application of new knowledge. It is used to measure the innovation performance of countries, benchmark them against each other, and inform policy makers of trends leading to better economic growth and development. From a design point of view, the GII is useful in promoting innovation and creating a more competitive environment for designers to work in.
