Hoehme's artistic career spanned several decades, during which he produced an extensive body of work that included paintings, sculptures, and woodcuts. Hoehme's art was heavily influenced by his experiences during World War II, which he spent as a prisoner of war in France. His time in captivity had a profound impact on his artistic style, as he began to experiment with abstraction and non-representational forms. This experimentation led to the creation of some of his most iconic works, such as his Raumzeichnung series, which explored the interplay between light and space. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Hoehme was also a respected educator and mentor. He taught at several prestigious art schools throughout Germany, including the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he served as a professor for over two decades. Many of his students went on to become successful artists in their own right, and his influence can be seen in the work of several contemporary German artists.
