Geo-EN Office Office
Geo-EN Office Office is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of historical architectural elements with contemporary office functionality. Located in Srbobran, Serbia, this 47-square-meter office space occupies a building constructed in 1892, showcasing a thoughtful renovation that preserves and highlights significant architectural heritage while meeting modern workplace requirements. The design's most distinctive feature is its exposed brick barrel vault ceiling, a characteristic architectural element from the Austro-Hungarian period that was traditionally concealed but has been deliberately revealed to celebrate the building's historical significance. The interior space is strategically divided into three functional zones: a primary workspace with office desks, a conference area for client meetings, and utility rooms including a kitchen and restroom. The aesthetic composition demonstrates a sophisticated balance between historical and contemporary elements, featuring warm wooden desk structures that complement the yellow brick ceiling, while gray walls and floor tiles provide a neutral backdrop, with black furniture adding modern contrast. The project overcame significant technical challenges, particularly in the floor heating system implementation, where innovative lightweight materials were utilized to maintain structural integrity while preserving the basement's historic brick vault ceiling. The design, completed in 2017 by architect Nenad Nasifovic, earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its excellence in combining historical preservation with contemporary functionality. The project's success lies in its economical yet visually striking approach to interior design, where careful material selection and thoughtful space planning create an environment that honors architectural heritage while serving modern business needs.
