Gartner Hype Cycle

The Gartner Hype Cycle is a model that helps to describe the life cycle of emerging technologies. It was developed by the research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc. to provide a framework for understanding how new technologies are adopted and how they evolve over time. The model consists of five stages, each of which represents a different phase in the life cycle of a technology. These stages are the Innovation Trigger, the Peak of Inflated Expectations, the Trough of Disillusionment, the Slope of Enlightenment, and the Plateau of Productivity. The Innovation Trigger is the first stage of the Gartner Hype Cycle. It represents the point at which a new technology is introduced to the market. At this stage, the technology is often seen as a novelty and generates a lot of excitement and interest. The Peak of Inflated Expectations is the second stage of the Gartner Hype Cycle. At this stage, the technology has generated a lot of hype and expectations. However, this hype is often not based on reality, and the technology may not live up to the expectations that have been set. The Trough of Disillusionment is the third stage of the Gartner Hype Cycle. At this stage, the initial excitement around the technology has faded, and people begin to realize that the technology may not be as revolutionary as they initially thought. This can lead to disappointment and a decrease in interest in the technology. The Slope of Enlightenment is the fourth stage of the Gartner Hype Cycle. At this stage, people begin to understand the true potential of the technology. They start to see how it can be used to solve real-world problems and how it can be integrated into existing systems. The Plateau of Productivity is the fifth and final stage of the Gartner Hype Cycle. At this stage, the technology has reached a level of maturity and is widely adopted. It has become a standard part of the technology landscape, and its benefits are well understood.

Gartner Hype Cycle

The Gartner Hype Cycle is a graphical representation of the maturity, adoption and social application of specific technologies. It is based on the industry expert analysis of a technology’s current and expected maturity over time and can help designers to assess the potential of a technology to address their design needs. The Gartner Hype Cycle is made up of five stages: Technology Trigger, Peak of Inflated Expectations, Trough of Disillusionment, Slope of Enlightenment and Plateau of Productivity. At each stage, the technology’s performance is measured and compared with its potential.

Gartner Hype Cycle

The Gartner Hype Cycle is an analytical tool developed to portray the maturity, adoption, and social application of specific technologies. It is a graphical representation of the life cycle stages of a technology. The hype cycle consists of five different stages: Innovation Trigger, Peak of Inflated Expectations, Trough of Disillusionment, Slope of Enlightenment, and Plateau of Productivity. During the Innovation Trigger stage, a technology is introduced and begins to create buzz in the market. This is followed by the Peak of Inflated Expectations, which is the maximum level of hype that is achieved. Thirdly, the Trough of Disillusionment is the point where reality sets in and people start to realize that the technology is not as revolutionary as initially thought. Following this period is the Slope of Enlightenment, in which the market matures and starts to understand the technology’s potential. Lastly, the Plateau of Productivity is the stage where the technology is widely adopted and used.
