Gallege Residential House
Gallege Residential House is an innovative residential architecture project completed in Hyogo, Japan in 2020, exemplifying a harmonious balance between openness and privacy in urban living. Designed by Japanese architect Michihiro Matsuo of METAPH ARCHITECT ASSOCIATES, this distinctive structure challenges traditional closed urban housing designs by incorporating extensive windowing throughout its facade while maintaining resident privacy through careful sight-line considerations. The three-story wooden structure, spanning 258.35 square meters on a modest 139.55-square-meter urban plot, showcases exceptional structural engineering that employs large-section laminated wood and metal joints to ensure seismic resistance - a crucial consideration in Japan's earthquake-prone environment.
