G Space Hair Salon
G Space Hair Salon is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes traditional hair salon layouts by placing the rinse area at the center of the space, creating a unique spatial hierarchy and functional flow. Located in Taichung City, Taiwan, this 320-square-meter establishment exemplifies a sophisticated blend of industrial and new oriental design aesthetics, featuring an expertly curated material palette including reclaimed timber, welded wire mesh, bamboo steel bars, and rust iron plates. The design, conceived by Ming-Hong Tsai and Zhi-Yin Liao, introduces a distinctive entry sequence beginning with a welcoming bar area and a mysterious hallway that leads to a spacious interior dramatically illuminated by approximately 300 LED bulbs, creating an ethereal visualization of hair waves in the air. The salon's innovative spatial configuration employs a system of divided districts and geometric cubes to establish multiple functional zones within the 8-meter-wide site, while careful consideration has been given to operational efficiency through customized work table heights and movable mirrors. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations, incorporating stack effect principles for improved air conditioning efficiency and carefully calibrated LED lighting systems to optimize both functionality and ambiance. This groundbreaking design earned the Platinum A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to contemporary salon design through its innovative spatial planning, material selection, and lighting solutions.
