Fundamental Attribution Error
Fundamental Attribution Error (FAE) is a cognitive bias that occurs when people tend to overemphasize dispositional or personality-based explanations for other people's behavior, rather than considering situational factors that may be contributing to the behavior. This bias is particularly relevant in social psychology, as it can lead to negative evaluations and misjudgments of others. One interesting aspect of FAE is that it appears to be more prevalent in individualistic cultures, where people tend to place a greater emphasis on personal responsibility and autonomy. In contrast, collectivistic cultures tend to be more sensitive to situational factors and may be less likely to make dispositional attributions. Another important factor to consider is the role of motivation in FAE. Research has shown that people are more likely to make dispositional attributions when they are motivated to do so, either because they have a need for cognitive closure or because they are trying to justify their own behavior. It is worth noting that FAE is not always a bad thing. In some cases, dispositional attributions may be more accurate than situational attributions. For example, if someone consistently engages in a certain behavior across a variety of situations, it may be more appropriate to attribute the behavior to their personality rather than to the situation. Overall, FAE is an important concept in social psychology that highlights the tendency for people to overemphasize dispositional explanations for behavior at the expense of situational factors. Understanding this bias can help us to be more accurate in our judgments of others and to avoid negative evaluations based on incomplete information.

Fundamental Attribution Error
Fundamental Attribution Error (FAE) is a cognitive bias in which people overestimate the role of personality and character when explaining the behavior of others, while underestimating the influence of situational factors. It suggests that people are quick to draw conclusions about others' behavior based on dispositional factors such as personality, rather than taking into account the external situational factors which could be influencing their behavior. This cognitive bias is particularly pertinent in social psychology, as it frequently results in misjudgments and negative evaluations of others.
