Full Praise Restaurant Restaurant is an innovative culinary establishment located in Kunming, Yunnan, that masterfully integrates traditional Sichuan cuisine with contemporary design aesthetics. The 450-square-meter space, completed in December 2018, represents a sophisticated interpretation of Chengdu's cultural heritage through its architectural and interior design elements. Designed by George Cook in collaboration with Qiuhua Lu and Kunxiao Lu, the restaurant's layout is ingeniously divided into two distinct layers, employing circles and arcs as core design elements for optimal spatial flow. The ground floor encompasses a welcoming entrance, reception area, tea display, water bar, public dining space, and an efficiently designed open kitchen, while the second floor houses office spaces, a landscape aisle, public dining areas, and private dining sections. The design philosophy draws inspiration from three quintessential Sichuan elements: bamboo, Sichuan opera, and tea culture, which are thoughtfully integrated throughout the interior and exterior spaces. The restaurant's material palette includes terrazzo-like bricks, flame-retardant panels, finished wood decorative panels, bamboo strips, and bamboo knitting, complemented by contemporary elements such as metal accents and natural stone. A notable innovation is the adjustable combined chair structure in the second-floor public dining area, which enhances functional flexibility for diverse dining scenarios. The project, which received the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases exceptional attention to operational efficiency through its open kitchen design and clear service flow patterns, while maintaining a strong connection to its cultural roots through thoughtful architectural elements that pay homage to traditional Chengdu architecture.
