Freedom Tap

Freedom Tap is an innovative public sanitary fixture designed to revolutionize hand-washing experiences in high-traffic environments, conceived and developed by Chinese designer Jiaojiao Fu. This groundbreaking design reimagines the conventional public tap system through its distinctive linear configuration that enables multiple simultaneous users, effectively addressing common issues of queuing and congestion in public spaces. The design draws inspiration from public bench architecture, incorporating this concept into sanitary ware to create a more efficient and user-friendly solution. Crafted from durable stainless steel, the Freedom Tap features an elongated form factor with integrated infrared sensors positioned beneath the fixture and uniform water outlets along its front face. The system operates through intuitive infrared detection, automatically dispensing water from corresponding outlets when users place their hands in the sensing zone, eliminating the need for physical contact and enhancing hygiene. Its modular design allows for customizable width configurations to suit various installation environments, while maintaining a consistent depth of 150mm and height of 150mm. The tap's innovative approach to public sanitation earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, acknowledging its contribution to improving public space efficiency and user experience. The design effectively addresses contemporary challenges in public facilities by reducing wait times, minimizing congestion, and promoting better hygiene practices through its touchless operation system, while its adaptable nature makes it suitable for various public settings such as airports, shopping centers, and educational institutions.
