Forest Heart Wood Picture
Forest Heart Wood Picture is an innovative marquetry artwork that represents a significant advancement in wood art techniques, particularly through its pioneering Naqshbandi method. Created by Iranian artist Mohamadali Vadood, this sophisticated piece depicts a bird composed of precisely cut wooden segments, each derived from different forest trees, measuring 35 by 60 centimeters. The artwork's distinctive feature lies in its preservation of not only the natural wood colors but also the intricate patterns, light shade-waves, and textures inherent in each wooden piece. The composition comprises 47 individual pieces crafted from various wood species, including haloxylon, barberry, fig, tree of heaven, acer monspessulanum, jujube, European ash, and wenge, each selected for their unique natural characteristics. The innovative Double-cut technique, developed specifically for this project, prevents the destruction of sub-patterns and sub-textures during the sanding process, maintaining the integrity of the main image. This Iron A' Design Award-winning work exemplifies a harmonious synthesis between traditional marquetry and contemporary artistic vision, establishing new parameters for wood art through its geometric precision and natural pattern preservation. The artwork's creation involved extensive research into wood properties, cutting angles, and moisture control, resulting in a piece that showcases the natural beauty and inherent patterns of wood while maintaining artistic coherence. The project, completed in 2010 in Tehran, required six months of meticulous work and represents a significant contribution to the field of fine arts and installation design.
